Americano
Long black, no apologies.
The Americano is the drink for people who want to taste the beans and nothing else. No milk hiding anything, no syrup rounding the edges — just two shots of espresso and hot water, in that order, with the crema still intact on top. If you spend time thinking about where your coffee was grown, this is the drink that lets you taste it.
Tasting Notes
- Flavor: deep mahogany, cocoa and dark fruit, visible crema
- Body: medium-full — the water carries the espresso without diluting the structure
- Finish: clean, no residual bitterness, long chocolate note
How We Build It
Two shots pulled first into the cup, then hot water poured over the top. The order matters — water on top preserves the crema, water on bottom shatters it. The 10oz is the drink's natural size; the 12 and 16 are the same two shots with more water, which makes them longer but lighter. Some baristas prefer the 10oz for the density; we respect their opinion.
Perfect For
Anyone who takes it black. The drink to pair with a dense pastry — biscotti, almond croissant, anything that benefits from being dunked. The one to order when you're reading something you want to concentrate on; nothing in the cup competes with your attention.
