Caramel Apple Brown Betty Latte
Pie-crumb finish on a caramel-apple latte.
Fall arrived early one October and we leaned in. The Caramel Apple Brown Betty is a caramel latte with warmed apple-spice syrup and brown sugar, finished with crumbled pie-crust from the pastry case dusted on top of the foam. It's the drink for sweater weather and the long walk after.
Tasting Notes
- Flavor: caramel sweetness, baked apple warmth, cinnamon and nutmeg behind, brown sugar depth
- Body: dense, slightly thickened by the brown sugar
- Finish: pie-crust crunch, apple lingering, caramel on the roof of the mouth
How We Build It
One pump caramel plus one pump apple-spice syrup plus a stir of brown sugar, built into the cup before the shots. Whole milk steamed to just under 150°F. Crumbled pie-crust from the back-of-case pastry supply dusted across the foam — if the pastry case is low on pie we substitute cinnamon-sugar shortbread crumble instead. Swap milk standard.
Perfect For
October. The drink after a long walk in the leaves. Pair with sharp cheddar if you want to go the full apple-and-cheese route — the salt and sharp lift the apple notes in the drink in a way sweet pairings don't.
